Situation 2017-18: we've come to fathom the workings of Windows Moviemaker and don't find it a particularly good programme and surprise, surprise: yes, it's Microsoft but it's free!
Fast forward to 2020, when I needed to reinstall a new laptop first with Windows 10, later with Windows 11: I installed (HD)MovieMaker-PRO, but have struggled with it since. Our initial postings in 2017/18 were more about us trying to get to grips with making semi-okay videos, than with producing future award-winning films! And just as things were getting better I'm back in the dumps; so much to learn!
Our short film on Ngahue IV sailing the 2017 ARC (see below under 2017) seems to be pretty appreciated and has generated about 4000 views since being on You Tube, which we think is quite a feat for a small and "un-pushed" posting! And all our films together have been viewed getting on for 15.000 times (by spring 2023)! Which probably explains why we have suddenly seen adverts popping up before many of the more popular films start... The frequency of posting films diminished in 2021 as we returned to quiet European and Covid-rules dominated sailing; our cruising programme 2022 was relatively limited too, so fewer films than hoped were posted... The same will probably apply to 2023 - hopefully not - though we will try to improve our performance.
Interspersed with our video posts, there are also a few links (or references) to (press) articles mentioning us or our boat, or articles written by Laura! On the Dutch Hallberg-Rassy Connectie website, there is a whole series of articles written on our circumnavigation.
